Corporate Cog |

For those of a political bent, EVE is an online paradise. There are only two things that really matter in EVE - ISK and politics, and they usually go hand in hand. While it's true that politics in EVE often means "wars", getting involved doesn't mean that you have to go fight. If you are a corporate player, you could end up deciding "if" your corporation will fight, and if so who when and even how.
Of course every corporate cog wants to be CEO someday. It takes a lot of work (well, fun work though) to stay on top of a massive organization and there is a huge risk and payout for doing it. Corporations deal with huge amounts of ISK, trade routes, factories and blueprints, wars and all sorts of other things on a daily basis. Just keeping a big corporation running smoothly is an adventure.
If you're not going to have time to be on a lot, this type of choice is not for you - there are some pretty big time commitments as you get closer to the top. However, it's a whole lot of fun, and the social aspect is great too. To play a political character, you have to start at the bottom.
Choose a well run corporation and do whatever you have to do to join, or become an entrepreneur and start one up yourself. (Though I recommend working in another corporation for a while before you do this, as you'll get an idea of how things work and generate useful contacts for later.) Be civil, don't burn bridges, and take opportunities as soon as you see them. Be the corporation, and you'll eventually be the CEO.
