Miner |

This is just a short introduction to mining. There is a great EVE online guide that offers a much more in-depth explanation and advanced strategies.
Miners are generally part of a much larger corporation, thus securing the protection that they need while they mine, as well as gaining a social aspect in an otherwise lonely profession. However, there are some solitary miners especially in the early stages when it can be a good way to get some ISK while you wait for your skills to level up.
Miners have their own equipment, skills and even ships geared towards their professions. Many people pick this as a co-choice with another skill set, such as trading or crafting of some sort. This enables you to do more with the materials you mine than simply selling them, and can generate even more ISK especially at higher levels.
To be a miner, first get yourself equipped with a mining ship and fittings. Then, bring your mining skill set up to par and hire or join a corporation for some protection, especially as you start mining in low sec areas. Remember you are a target! When youre got all that, head out there, mine away and keep your chat box open for the down times.
