If you're planning on playing a crafting type class, EVE has lots of options for you as far as blueprints and items/ships go. Unfortunately, you almost have to join a large corporation to get your hands on many of them. However, there are a large amount of crafting corporations who profit greatly from their sales and are often looking to increase their production workers.
You may have to work for a corporation for quite a while in order to see more of your profits, but the access to factories and blueprints, as well as materials often makes up for the loss, and you can use your lower status time to work on your skill levels anyway. There aren't a lot of missions which directly require any crafting, however you may find that some courier missions require a generic product that you can make instead of buy.
Sometimes this isn't worth it, but if you can't find an item or it's just too far away, you probably can not only do the mission yourself, but also make extras and put them on the market, making some decent ISK there as well. Crafting is pretty self-explanatory - get materials, get plans, make items, make ISK.
Non-corporate players will have a much harder time with this, especially at higher levels, but it's ok to start out without a big corporation while you are still building your skills. |
